Bahrain’s poultry production is set to soar by 67% as the government prepares three plots of land for livestock investments, according to the 2025–2026 budget proposals.

Authorities have also earmarked 61 projects to enhance public spaces across the country, introducing new parks, walkways, beaches, markets, and commercial areas. Many of these developments will be undertaken in collaboration with private investors.

The proposed initiatives include 46 public gardens and walkways, six coastal projects, four major markets, and five commercial ventures.

To support construction activities, the government has pledged to expedite building permit procedures using the ‘Benayat’ platform. Plans are also underway to advance a modern engineered landfill and implement improved waste disposal methods.

Digital sector

In the digital sector, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture is collaborating with Bahrain Polytechnic to modernise over 20 services using artificial intelligence. Currently, 13 digital platforms offering 39 services are in operation.

Agriculture

For the agricultural sector, the government recently invited bids for 19 farming plots and will soon allocate three additional plots for livestock projects. These initiatives aim to drive a 42% increase in egg production, raising self-sufficiency from 40% to 70%.

Achieving the projected poultry production growth would elevate the country’s self-sufficiency from 30% to 55%.

To further boost agricultural productivity and animal health, the ministry is reviewing regulations to enhance private veterinary quarantine stations and streamline licensing processes for animal production facilities.

Halal certification

Additionally, Bahrain is set to introduce a halal certification programme and establish guidelines for veterinary product use in food-producing livestock.

Infrastructure improvements are also advancing in Hoorat A’ali, where Bahrain’s first commercial hydroponic farming phase is taking shape, contributing to the country’s sustainable agricultural development.
