Bahrain supports Arab parliamentary coordination

Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam emphasised the importance of supporting Arab parliamentary coordination in global forums and backing key Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue.
Al Musallam was speaking as he met with Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on the sidelines of the 150th IPU General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Head of the Bahrain parliamentary delegation, Al Musallam commended the deep relations between the Kingdom and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and underscored the importance of further developing ties across all domains.
Care and attention
He noted the care and attention these relations receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Algeria President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The two speakers both emphasised the need to enhance Bahraini-Algerian ties and advance partnerships that serve the common interests of both countries, highlighting their commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation.
They also discussed coordinating Arab parliamentary positions regarding the emergency item on the IPU agenda related to support for the Palestinian cause and ongoing Israeli violations, emphasising the need to align positions to secure majority support for the proposal.
The meeting also explored means of enhancing joint parliamentary cooperation, exchanging expertise and mutual visits, coordinating positions in parliamentary forums, and continuing to enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas, particularly in the parliamentary field.
Both sides also discussed the activation of agreements and the work of friendship committees, in a manner that serves the interests and well-being of both countries and their peoples.
The meeting was attended by Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, member of the Shura Council; MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, MP Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives; and Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council.
