The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption & Economic & Electronic Security has issued a public warning about a new fraudulent scheme targeting car buyers in Bahrain. Scammers are reportedly impersonating well-known public figures to deceive individuals into buying cars under false pretenses.
According to the alert, the fraudsters contact potential victims directly, claiming to be prominent or influential personalities in Bahraini society. They then offer vehicles allegedly imported from neighboring countries, presenting them as a “special deal” or a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” made possible through their supposed connections.
Authorities have confirmed that these offers are entirely fake, and that the individuals being impersonated have no connection to the scammers or these transactions. The goal is simply to steal money from unsuspecting buyers through deception.
⚠️ Important Safety Tips:
Do not trust unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to be famous or influential without official verification.
Never transfer money before fully confirming the source and legitimacy of the deal.
Any sales conducted in such suspicious and informal ways are highly likely to be scams.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and to share this warning with family and friends to help prevent further incidents.
