Four held after shrimp fishing chase at sea

Four men have been arrested after trying to escape at sea while fishing for shrimp during the seasonal ban, the Public Prosecution stated yesterday.
Coast Guard officers spotted the group aboard a boat and moved in to check their permits. The crew attempted to flee. They didn’t get far.
The patrol gave chase and caught them, seizing both the boat and the banned bottom trawl nets they were using — known locally as koofa. All four are Bahrainis.
The Public Prosecution questioned the suspects and charged them with a string of offences.
