The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced that it carried out 1,078 inspection visits and campaigns across Bahrain from March 23 to April 5, resulting in the detention of 26 violating and irregular workers, with 16 individuals deported for breaching labour and residency laws.
The inspections, conducted in coordination with several government entities, aimed to clamp down on illegal labour practices and reinforce stability within the labour market. Violations observed were related to both the Labour Market Law and Residency Laws in the Kingdom.
Of the total operations, 1,065 visits targeted commercial establishments, while 13 were joint inspection campaigns, which included:
-
5 in the Capital Governorate
-
2 in Muharraq
-
4 in the Northern Governorate
-
2 in the Southern Governorate
Participating agencies included the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), relevant police directorates, the Coast Guard, the Supreme Council for Environment, and the Southern Area Municipality.
The LMRA reaffirmed its commitment to working with government bodies to intensify inspection efforts across all governorates, stressing that any violations threatening the integrity of Bahrain’s labour market or social and economic security would be dealt with firmly.
Authorities also urged the public to support their efforts by reporting illegal labour practices via the LMRA website, the call centre at 17506055, or through the government’s Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
