The Kingdom of Bahrain’s accomplishments in achieving universal health coverage reflect its strong commitment to providing the highest standards of healthcare to all members of society.

This was emphasised by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), as he noted that these efforts enhance its health system capabilities, placing the Kingdom at the forefront of nations prioritising public health.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah highlighted the continuous support the health sector receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This support has contributed to significant achievements in developing the national healthcare system.

World Health Day

Marking World Health Day, observed annually on April 7, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah noted that this year’s World Health Day theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures” underscores the importance of investing in health as a core pillar for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ensuring better community well-being.

He highlighted the close cooperation between Bahrain and the World Health Organisation (WHO), which has played a key role in improving healthcare services and strengthening responses to health challenges.

This includes the opening of a WHO country office in the Kingdom to enhance cooperation across all health-related sectors.

Lt. Gen Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah commended the efforts of all health sector professionals across public, military, and private institutions, who continue to exemplify dedication and commitment in working to safeguard the health of every member of society.
