Engineer Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, has inaugurated a new fleet of cleaning vehicles for Bahrain’s Capital and Muharraq Governorates, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to adopting advanced and modern systems to enhance cleanliness across the Kingdom.

During the launch ceremony of the new service fleet by Gulf Cleaning Company, the Undersecretary highlighted that the initiative reflects the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and provide a cleaner, more sustainable environment, in line with national goals to elevate environmental services and quality of life.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of Nass Group, Engineer Saleh Taher Tarada, Chairman of the Capital Municipal Council, Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Al-Nuaar, Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council, along with other officials and municipal council members.

The new fleet includes a range of vehicles and containers prepared by the Capital Secretariat and Muharraq Municipality. It also showcased internationally certified plastic waste containers and dedicated recycling bins. Notably, 300 recycling centers will be distributed across Bahrain, with around 150 placed in the Capital and Muharraq Governorates.

The Undersecretary stated that the upgraded fleet under the new cleaning services contract will play a key role in improving cleanliness in both governorates. The vehicles are equipped with modern systems, including automatic bin-washing trucks—featuring some of the latest global technology—and street-sweeping vehicles that spray water to control dust. A specially designed coastal cleaning boat, equipped with nets and arms to collect debris up to 10 meters from the shore, was also unveiled.

Shaikh Mohammed further explained that the new waste containers are made of plastic as a more sustainable alternative. The 1,100-liter bins are durable yet lightweight, reducing noise during collection and making them environmentally friendly.

Engineer Saleh Taher Tarada, Chairman of the Capital Municipal Council, praised the launch of the new fleet, stating that it embodies Bahrain’s commitment to adopting technical and administrative measures aimed at controlling waste and improving cleanliness in the Capital Governorate.

Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Al-Nuaar, Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council, also highlighted the importance of launching the new fleet, which includes advanced machinery that will significantly contribute to maintaining high cleanliness standards in Muharraq.
