The Bahrain India Society proudly hosted Mr. Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), one of India’s largest and most influential financial institutions and a key player in the global banking arena. His visit marks a notable milestone in the Society’s ongoing mission to strengthen the bilateral ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdulrahman Juma, Chairman of the Bahrain India Society, highlighted that the event goes beyond symbolism. “It reflects growing confidence in Bahrain’s role as a strategic financial and commercial hub in the Gulf region and beyond,” he said. “With its business-friendly regulations, open economy, and strong global connectivity, Bahrain presents a compelling platform for Indian financial institutions and investors to expand and establish lasting partnerships.”

Mr. Setty’s engagement underscores the substantial potential for collaboration in sectors such as banking, fintech, trade finance, and cross-border investment. As the Gulf continues its drive toward economic diversification and India sustains its growth momentum, platforms like this play a critical role in driving mutual innovation, development, and prosperity.

The Bahrain India Society reaffirmed its commitment to fostering such high-level exchanges and facilitating productive dialogue between both nations.

Established in 2008, the Bahrain India Society is a non-profit organization founded by prominent Bahraini and Indian business leaders and professionals. It was initiated by former Minister of Labor H.E. Mr. Abdulnabi Al Sho’ala with the vision of deepening the historic friendship between Bahrain and India. The Society actively works to strengthen ties not only in business but also in culture, education, science, and civil society.
