Global talks on investment dispute resolution

Professor Marike Paulsson, Secretary General of the Council for International Dispute Resolution of Bahrain, took part in a high-level reception in New York co-hosted by France and Thailand at the Thai Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The event focused on reforming investment dispute resolution mechanisms.

Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations and Mr. Jérôme Bonnafont, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of France delivered opening remarks, emphasising the importance of multilateral cooperation in modernising dispute resolution frameworks.

Key speakers included Jovana Crncevic, Special Counsel at Withers, and Songchai Chaipatiyut, Deputy Director-General of Thailand’s Department of Treaties, who discussed legal reform and Thailand’s global leadership in the field.

Professor Paulsson reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to promoting fair, transparent, and effective mechanisms for resolving investment disputes, and expressed the Kingdom’s willingness to work closely with international partners to strengthen global legal infrastructure.
