The Royal University for Women (RUW) has proudly announced its official recognition as Compliant with the General Framework Standards by the Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA). This achievement highlights RUW’s unwavering dedication to delivering high-quality education aligned with national standards and its pivotal role in advancing higher education across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The recognition follows a comprehensive institutional review conducted by the BQA’s Directorate of Higher Education Reviews, which assessed the university’s academic and operational frameworks. The review confirmed that RUW meets the stringent quality benchmarks set by the BQA, reaffirming the university’s strong governance, commitment to quality assurance, and strategic alignment with Bahrain’s higher education objectives.

RUW President, Professor Reyad Hamzah, expressed pride in the university’s accomplishment, stating: “This recognition underscores our commitment to academic integrity, continuous improvement, and empowering future generations of women leaders. At RUW, quality is more than a requirement—it is a philosophy that shapes our teaching, research, and community engagement. We remain dedicated to building a nurturing environment where innovation thrives and excellence is the norm.”

Founded in 2005, RUW holds the distinction of being Bahrain’s first private university dedicated solely to women. Over the years, it has built a reputation as a transformative institution that blends international academic standards with regional cultural relevance, offering young women a platform to excel academically and professionally.

The BQA’s recognition marks a significant milestone in RUW’s development, affirming its focus on student-centred learning, robust academic governance, faculty advancement, and an adaptable curriculum designed to meet the evolving demands of the labour market.

RUW’s academic and administrative teams collectively celebrated the achievement, highlighting it as the result of years of collaboration, innovation, and dedication. The university also extended its appreciation to the Higher Education Council (HEC) and the BQA for their guidance and for fostering a culture of educational excellence in Bahrain.
