A man was bitten on the nose during a fight at a stable, leaving him with what doctors later described as a 10 per cent permanent disfigurement. The High Criminal Court has set tomorrow to summon the other man involved and hear final arguments from the defence. The accused, aged 42, is seeking release while the case continues.

The trouble began after the older man claimed the younger, aged 30, had repeatedly harassed him. A row broke out, turning physical. During the fight, the younger man is said to have pinned the other to the ground.

Harm

The older man admitted he bit him several times, insisting he did not intend to cause harm but was only trying to free himself. A nearby worker told investigators he ran over after hearing raised voices. He found the pair grappling on the floor. The younger man was bleeding from the face.

The older man had already left the scene in his car. The witness, helped by another man, tried to stop the bleeding, which was coming from the younger man’s nose.

Panic

When questioned by prosecutors, the older man said he acted in panic. He admitted to biting the younger man but said it was the only way to escape what he described as an attack.

The younger man told a different story. He said the older man struck first, forced him to the ground and bit him three times — on the nose, abdomen and thigh. Forensic tests backed parts of both accounts.

Tissue death

The 30-year-old was found to have a human bite and bruising.
