Rafael Camara showed his championship credentials with a cool and commanding drive to win the Formula 3 Feature Race in Bahrain, claiming his second victory of the season in style.
The Ferrari Driver Academy rookie was made to work for it. Starting from pole, Camara briefly lost the lead to Callum Voisin after a brave dive into Turn 3 from the Rodin Motorsport driver. But the Trident racer kept his nerve and fought back, reclaiming top spot with a bold move at Turn 7 on Lap 5 — and never looked back.
From there, Camara found his rhythm and began to stretch his legs. As the chaos unfolded behind, he pulled clear, managing his tyres perfectly to finish 5.7 seconds ahead of the field.
“It was a tough race at the start,” Camara said. “But once I got back in front, I focused on keeping it clean and consistent. The car felt great — I’m really happy.”
Behind him, Voisin had his hands full. He came under increasing pressure from a charging Tim Tramnitz, who produced the drive of the day. Starting a lowly 13th, the MP Motorsport driver carved his way through the pack with some brilliant overtakes — his move on Tuukka Taponen in the final laps securing a deserved podium.
Further back, the midfield was anything but calm. Lap 2 saw a three-way squeeze at Turn 1 involving James Wharton, Ivan Domingues and Matias Zagazeta, while Freddie Slater was forced to retire on Lap 3 with a mechanical issue.
Charlie Wurz had been in the mix early on but faded as the race wore on, losing out to Red Bull juniors Taponen and Nikola Tsolov in the closing stages.
One of the standout performances came from Spain’s Mari Boya, who celebrated his birthday in style with a storming drive from 20th on the grid to finish eighth — a gritty and determined recovery that didn’t go unnoticed.
As Camara extends his lead at the top of the standings, the F3 grid now looks ahead to Jeddah — but the Brazilian has already made it clear: he’s the one to beat.
