Tange Associates is internationally acclaimed for its architectural contributions, and notably, the current University of Bahrain campus was originally designed by the late Kenzo Tange – an iconic Japanese architect and father of Mr. Paul Kenko Tange. The visit marked a meaningful return to the campus by the next generation of the Tange legacy.
The delegation discussed the vision for future development of the university, including the expansion of new campus facilities inspired by the original design philosophy of Tange Associates. The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to deepening academic, cultural and architectural collaboration between Japan and Bahrain.
Ambassador Okai emphasised the importance of fostering strong bilateral ties through education and cultural exchange. “Today’s visit symbolizes not only a continuation of a visionary design but also the strengthening of bridges between our two nations in the fields of architecture, academia and cultural dialogue,” she stated. The Embassy of Japan looks forward to continued collaboration with the University of Bahrain and other Bahraini institutions in advancing shared values and initiatives for mutual growth.
