Unsettled weather conditions expected

An official source in Bahrain's Directorate of Meteorology (BMD) said unsettled weather conditions are expected to affect the kingdom starting Thursday, December 24.

He said the climate will change to mainly cloudy with chance of thunderstorm frequently, reaching its peak on Friday and early Saturday. Rain-showers will begin to shift eastwards on Saturday, December 26, becoming partly cloudy.

Wnds will be from light to moderate northeasterly directional, changing to active, strong and high speed northwesterly on Friday and Saturday, with possible cold at night and in the early morning hours, he added.

He urged citizens, especially seafarers, to take all the necessary precautions. Actually, Tuesday, December 22 sees the advent of the winter solstice.

The unsettled weather is ascribable to the approaching deep low cold atmospheric mass from the Mediterranean towards the central parts of the Arabian Peninsula and northern parts of the Arabian Gulf which explains the unsettled weather conditions in these regions, he concluded.
