Bahrain Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Cause at Parliamentary Meeting in Istanbul

Bahraini Member of Parliament Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi affirmed Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to advancing regional and international initiatives aligned with its balanced foreign policy under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Representing Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, MP Al Nuaimi made the remarks during a preparatory meeting held in Istanbul to discuss the draft declaration set to be issued at the upcoming Conference of Parliament Speakers in Support of Palestine. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Saleh Al Ghethith, Head of the Council’s Legal Advisory Authority.

Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized Bahrain’s principled stance in supporting Arab causes, especially the Palestinian issue, which he described as the core issue for peace and stability in the region. He stressed that Bahrain has assumed a pivotal role in supporting just causes across the Arab world through constructive initiatives and diplomatic engagement.

He highlighted that the Bahraini delegation, following the directives of Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, submitted several key proposals for inclusion in the final declaration. These included:

  • Drawing on the outcomes of the recent Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain and its "Manama Declaration"

  • Adding a clause supporting the 150th General Assembly resolution of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), adopted unanimously in Uzbekistan, titled “The Role of Parliaments in Advancing the Two-State Solution in Palestine”

  • Reaffirming the right of return for Palestinian refugees

  • Rejecting any plans for demographic changes in the Gaza Strip

The first official session of the Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in Support of Palestine is set to take place on Saturday evening, with participation from 13 parliamentary delegations from around the world. The conference aims to announce the formation of a parliamentary group supporting Palestine, envisioned as a platform for cooperation and dialogue on the Palestinian cause.
