There are no expatriates on the Ministry of Tourism’s payroll, confirmed the Tourism Minister, who further stated that “the ministry has no plans to hire any.”

“The Ministry of Tourism does not employ any foreign staff,” said Fatima Al Sairafi. “We believe in Bahraini capabilities and are committed to giving them every opportunity to take on responsibilities within the ministry.”

In a written reply to MP Basma Abdulkarim Mubarak, the minister confirmed that all current employees are Bahraini nationals, and that all contracts are permanent.

MP Mubarak had raised a parliamentary question regarding staff nationality, job titles, contract types, and training plans. She noted that the ministry’s commitment to hiring Bahrainis aligns with government policy to prioritise locals in public sector jobs.

The minister added that staff training is a key focus, with every employee required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of training annually. This includes courses, practical sessions, and workshops conducted both locally and abroad, in line with Civil Service Bureau regulations.

The ministry also expressed its appreciation to Parliament and MP Basma for raising the matter, affirming its commitment to continued cooperation with the legislative branch in areas that serve the public interest.
