Bahrain Extends Midday Summer Work Ban to Three Months Starting 2025

Acting Minister of Labour, Yousef bin Abdulhussein Khalaf, has issued a new decision extending the midday summer work ban period from two to three months, effective from this year.

According to the updated regulation, outdoor work will now be prohibited daily from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM during the peak heat period from June 15 to September 15. The decision aims to protect workers from the dangers of heat stress, especially those whose job requires them to work under direct sunlight or in open areas.

Previously, the summer work ban only applied during July and August. The new amendment now includes the latter half of June and the first half of September, aligning the policy more closely with the region’s intense summer climate.

The Labour Ministry emphasized that the updated rule reflects Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to occupational safety and health standards and aligns with global best practices for worker welfare during extreme weather conditions. Employers are urged to comply strictly with the revised schedule to ensure the well-being of their staff.
