Municipal Affairs Minister Inspects Development of Two New Parks in Sitra Housing Town

His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, conducted an inspection visit to review the progress of two new neighborhood park projects currently under development in Sitra Housing Town. The projects have reached 40% completion.

The visit was attended by Engineer Salah Taher Tarada, Chairman of the Capital Trustees Board; Engineer Mohammed Saad Al-Sahli, Director-General of the Capital Secretariat; Mariam Jumaa Al-Falaiti, Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Services at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning; as well as several other officials.

During the visit, Minister Al Mubarak emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to implementing service-oriented projects that align with Bahrain’s broader development goals and the country’s comprehensive urban growth. He highlighted the Ministry’s focus on enhancing public parks and recreational spaces, increasing green coverage, and upgrading infrastructure to support a healthier and more livable urban environment.

The first park is being developed over an area of 2,104 square meters and will feature two padel courts spanning 400 square meters, over 50 newly planted trees, and 680 square meters of ground cover—accounting for 31% of the park’s total area.

The second park covers 2,176 square meters and will include a multi-activity sports court (490 sqm), nearly 50 trees, 680 sqm of ground cover (32% of the park), 26 car parking spaces, and four designated seating areas within the park.

Minister Al Mubarak stressed the importance of coordination with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to integrate municipal services within housing projects. By utilizing available land effectively, the government aims to deliver convenient municipal amenities that enhance the environmental and urban landscape of new residential areas.

Engineer Salah Tarada commended the government’s efforts—led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—in expanding and modernizing park infrastructure across the Kingdom. He noted that such projects enrich urban life by providing accessible green spaces for residents to enjoy, engage in physical activities, and socialize.

He also praised the collaborative efforts between various public entities in advancing national greening initiatives, stating that increased planting efforts in parks and public spaces contribute significantly to enhancing Bahrain’s urban image and improving the quality of life in residential neighborhoods.
