A woman allegedly unleashed her dog on a neighbour and struck him in the face with its leash, leaving the 74-year-old man with a lasting injury, the court has been told.
The dispute, which broke out between the Bahraini pensioner and a woman in her forties of Asian background, ended in a scrap that left both with visible injuries.
The man claims the woman turned her dog on him, spat in his face, then lashed him with the animal’s lead. He says he struck back.
Permanent impairment
He was left with a fractured middle finger that has yet to heal, and which doctors say amounts to a permanent impairment of one per cent.
For her part, the woman sustained bite marks on both hands and bruising consistent with the medical reports.
The High Criminal Court heard both sides during an opening session and adjourned the case until 27 April.
Aggressor
The man denied attacking the woman, telling the judge she had been the aggressor. He insisted he is still undergoing treatment for the injuries and that he has a witness who saw what happened.
The woman admitted to hitting the man, but denied insulting him. She appeared with two lawyers who asked for time to review the file and respond.
