MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen has welcomed changes to the Tas’heel+ Programme, calling it a practical move that sharpens its reach and usefulness.

She said the updates fit within His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s aim to deliver 50,000 homes and help Bahrainis live with dignity.

The government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is, she emphasised, shaping housing plans around the actual needs of people.

Decision

One key change, she said, is the decision to raise the upper age limit for applicants.

This means more Bahrainis, particularly older ones who may have been locked out before, now have a chance to get support.

The scheme also ties the loan amount to each applicant’s income. That, in her view, keeps repayments within reach and helps avoid debt that cannot be managed.

She noted that people using Tas’heel+ can now choose how to spend the loan.

Scheme

Whether it is on a flat, a ready home, a plot, or buying land to build, the scheme lets families decide what suits them best.

Income brackets have been set for eligibility.

Al Dhaen said this helps keep the scheme focused on those who truly need support, while avoiding waste and overreach.

She also praised local banks for helping roll out the changes. She said the effort shows how public and private sides can work together effectively.
