Mother and son die after fall in Al Hajiyat fire

A 30-year-old man with special needs and his 48-yearold mother tragically lost their lives after falling from a balcony while attempting to escape a fire that broke out in their second-floor apartment in the Al Hajiyat area early Monday morning.
The blaze, which erupted in a nine-story residential building at approximately 2:45 a.m., prompted an immediate response from Civil Defense teams.
According to authorities, emergency crews arrived at the scene within 10 minutes of receiving the alert.
While firefighting units managed to extinguish the flames and contain the fire before it spread to other parts of the building, the incident resulted in additional injuries.
A child was transported to the hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation; his condition has since been reported as stable.
