ISB submits fee hike proposal to ministry
Indian School Bahrain (ISB) has submitted a proposal to hike monthly tuition fee by BD5 to the Education Ministry.
If approved, the revised fee will be applicable from April onwards when the new academic year begins. ISB secretary general Dr Shemily P John said that the school expected an early and positive response from the ministry on the proposal.
The suggestion for increasing fees came from the parents itself at the General Body conducted to discuss the financial crisis of the school.
However some parents may find it difficult to afford the further hike. The school’s student population is around 12,000.
After obtaining the ministry’s approval, the school’s Executive Committee will also discuss the amendments to be made in the requirements for fee concession provided for students coming from families that are not affluent, said school chairman Prince S Natarajan.
The fee hike decision will be implemented by considering the financial situation of parents too.
The loss of the school for the period 01/4/2014 to 031/3/2015 was BD6,84,075. According to a circular issued by the school, the total loss of the school in the last six years was BD16,27,789.
