A dialogue of cultures through the lens of poetry between France and Bahrain took place on April 21 at 7:30pm, at Azul Beach. Co-organized by the French Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Alliance Francaise in Bahrain, the event “Verses & Vibes” is the symbiosis of the French and Bahraini cultures, celebrating the richness and beauty of the Arabic and French languages.
This initiative was designed to nurture the dialogue between France and Bahrain through the merging of the French slam poet Jerome Pinel, the talented local poets Mohammed Radhi and Nawraa Ahmed, and the famous Bahraini oud player Hassan Haddad.
Through this peformance, these esteemed artists brought together music and poetry, as well as the French and Arabic languages. This show did not only display the depth and the charm of both languages, but also illustrated how language can be a vector of dialogue and cooperation between cultures and peoples.
Pinel is a two-time champion of the Slam World Cup (Paris 2019) and Slam National (Paris 2018), known for his worldwide performances of slam poetry.
He came to Bahrain for a couple of days to conduct two slam and poetic writing workshops.
