Shura Council member’s remarks draw flak
Parliamentary members yesterday protested against the remarks of a Shura Council member Adil Al Mawdah, who branded the MPs as conmen and incompetent to take decisions.
MP Jamal bu Hassan lifted his Igal (Arab Headband) saying “I lift up my Igal in respect to all the MPs and committees, who are working for the citizens day and night. Attacking them is like attacking the reform project of HM the King.”
He added, “The MPs earned the trust and the confidence of the Bahraini people, and we refuse any attempt to discredit their abilities and their capabilities.” Throwing his Igal down on the ground, he added: “I threw my Igal down in respect to the chairman of the Parliament (Ahmed Al Mulla), who is putting a lot of efforts to develop the parliament.”
“When I called Al Mawdah, he denied delivering such a statement. But it wasn’t logical that the same statement was published by three local newspapers. We have full confidence in our press, which are always accurate and fair,” he explained.
Meanwhile, MP Abdul-rahman bu Ali demanded an apology from Al Mawdah and the Shura Council for this statement.
