The Statistics and Population Registry sector has achieved several key milestones in 2024, representing a significant step toward enhancing transparency and data quality.

This was emphasised by His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), who said that these achievements have contributed to the strategic decision-making of the Kingdom of Bahrain, supporting comprehensive and sustainable development.

Al Qaed highlighted the continuous support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Guidance

He also lauded the guidance of H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT), which has accelerated digital transformation, adoption of advanced technologies, and developing readiness to implement government policies in alignment with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Al Qaed noted that ID card and population registry statistics for 2024 revealed over 900,000 transactions completed related to ID, population, civil records, and address services, out of which 95% were completed through digital channels.

He said that most of the transactions conducted at the service centres were related to biometric data collection and signatures.

The ID card issuance and renewal marked 405,000 transactions in addition to 33,000 birth and death certificate requests and over 15,000 address service transactions.

eServices Al Qaed also highlighted that iGA launched several new eServices via Bahrain’s National Portal (bahrain.bh), including updating household status online using the eKey, in addition to adding a QR code to verify ID card statements.
