MPs want Bahrain’s Constitution changed to make housing a duty of the state.
A proposed amendment, signed by 25 members, seeks to rewrite paragraph (w) of Article 9.
The new wording would read: “The state shall work to provide housing for citizens.”
The proposal comes with a short note explaining the change.
It argues that current phrasing leaves the state’s role unclear. The new text, backers say, would place that duty beyond doubt.
If passed, the change would be printed in the Official Gazette and take effect from that date.
