Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the fourth workshop organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the development of Bahrain’s National Human Rights Plan (2027–2031).
The workshop, held via videoconference, also saw the participation of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation, and Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Moawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Interior highlighted the workshop’s theme, “Establishing Justice and Enforcing the Law: New Horizons for the Promotion of Human Rights,” which reflects the enduring vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the proactive leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He stressed the alignment of the workshop’s goals with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy, which upholds the rule of law and integrates respect for human rights into institutional behavior and policy. He noted the ministry's commitment to international human rights standards and its expansion of related initiatives, including the use of artificial intelligence to enhance crime prevention and deliver more efficient security services.
“The Kingdom’s achievements in the rule of law and protection of human rights are a source of national pride and encourage us to continue strengthening these values,” the Minister stated. He also emphasized that promoting and protecting human rights is a shared responsibility between the state, its institutions, and society at large.
The workshop forms part of a broader national effort to draft and implement a comprehensive and forward-looking human rights strategy for the 2027–2031 period.
