Manama to update all faulty clocks
Manama General Secretariat plans to update all faulty clocks in the Kingdom, which has been lying neglected over for many months.
DT News in a general round-up noticed many faulty clocks in the Kingdom, which was immediately notified to the Manama General Secretariat, who is responsible for the upkeep of the towers.
The Kingdom has many clocks and clock towers, which serve as landmarks and a historical monument for many years. In the earlier days, clock towers used to play a huge importance in the daily life of the people.
“Yes, we are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the clocks and clock towers. We have already taken action for the repair and upkeep of these historical master pieces,” said Chairman, Manama General Secretariat, Mohammed Al Khozaee.
The clock tower in the central market stands tall at the parking area, but it could be seen that the times depicted at all four sides of the towers are different. The clock tower, which is at the Hoora Exhibition Road Roundabout, is also faulty. It could be noted that all sides of the tower displayed different times. The clock, which is placed at the top of the Bahrain Club, Muharraq is also faulty.
Earlier in the year, DT News had reported the faulty clock tower in Riffa, which was immediately rectified by the department.
“We have made all necessary arrangements for the repair. We will not only repair the clocks but will also carry out the maintenance around the place where the clocks are placed. However, there will be delay in the repair due to the huge cost involved in the repair and also the parts for the clocks have to import from Germany,” Khozaee added.
