Posting nude photo online: Woman’s jail term reduced
The jail term of a 23-year-old woman, convicted of promulgating a topless picture of her colleague, was reduced on appeal. She was earlier sentenced to six months in jail along with her 25-year-old husband, who was held guilty of abetting the crime.
But the woman’s jail term was commuted to three months on appeal, though her conviction was upheld.
The victim was working in a supermarket with the first defendant. They were serving in different departments, but the defendant said during interrogation that the other woman was causing troubles to her.
“When my husband saw me depressed and sad, I revealed to him that my colleague (the victim) was disturbing me and treating me badly. I requested him to deal with her. I gave him her topless picture I received from her colleagues,” the defendant said.
The husband is said to have distributed the picture online along with the victim’s mobile number. The victim found that her picture had gone viral after she started receiving calls from strangers. Both the defendants were earlier fined also BD50 each.
