Emergency plan in place for rainy days: Housing Ministry
Housing Ministry recently stated that it is following a comprehensive emergency plan during the rainy days, to prevent any damage that could be caused by the rainwater flooding.
The Ministry said its emergency procedures follow the instructions of the Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to prevent further rainwater flooding at the sites of housing projects.
The Ministry confirmed that it’s adopting permanent solutions to eliminate this issue in the first quarter of 2016.
In a recent statement, the Ministry explained that it’s depending on eight pumps and 12 water suction tankers to drain the accumulated rainwater at housing projects.
It also clarified that a new drainage system has been initiated to drain the accumulated rainwater from Wadi Al Sail Housing Project, which is one of the areas that is most affected during the rainy season due to its valley-like geographical structure.
The Ministry said it’s implementing many procedures to drain rainwater from housing projects in Jidhafs, Arad, Horat Sanad, Al Dair and Samaheej areas.
The Cabinet had recently discussed with Housing and Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministries the accumulation and drainage of rainwater issue. Causes and solutions were intensively discussed and suggested in the recent meeting.
