The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) organised its 36th Annual Day celebrations at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa under the patronage of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Secretary General and GPIC Chairman Dr. Ahmed Al Sharayan. GPIC’s the most important achievements in 2015 were highlighted and reviewed during event.

The several awards won by the firm during the year were highlighted and tributes were paid to the professional and dedicated efforts of all the workers who succeeded in implementing the strategies and balanced policies set up by the Board of Directors.

Welcoming the appointment of Dr. Al Sharayan as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, President of GPIC Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said that the company management would continue to work on its strategies and policies and to maintain the same high standards that had contributed towards GPIC becoming one of the most advanced industrial Companies in the region and a model of successful GCC co-operation.

Dr. Jawahery also thanked and appreciated the members of the Board of Directors for having attended the ceremony and honouring the company’s employees for their efforts in helping GPIC achieve global recognition during the year.

Dr. Jawahery said he took pride in the company’s celebrations coinciding with the National Day festivities and with celebrations marking His Majesty the King’s Accession Day.

He congratulated Bahrain’s Leadership for harnessing all the capabilities of its people and creating a simulating atmosphere, which helped GPIC workers to give their best performance.

Dr. Jawahery said the proper approach and strategic planning of the Board of Directors and the commitment of the Executive Management, along with the members of the Labour Union, all employees and workers, were instrumental in the success of the Company.

He remarked that the employees and workers were known for their professional excellence and knowledge related to the Petrochemical Industry.

“They have never shied away from attending industry-specific conferences and workshops around the world to further enhance their skills and competence.”

Dr. Jawahery also spoke about the several regional and international Awards won by GPIC, the most prominent being the award for excellence in occupational health and safety given by the British Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Company, he said, also won the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for excellence in business for the industrial category in the GCC and the prize for Arabic Social Responsibility 2015 granted by the Arabic Network for Social Responsibility.

“GPIC was also awarded an award of excellence for the best partnership programme and cooperation between the private and the public sector for the company’s role in the environment award programme for students,” he pointed out, and added that the GPIC was awarded the Bahrain e-Government Award for Excellence in the e-economy category.

Dr. Jawahery pointed out that GPIC was the first in Bahrain to get the coveted ISO50001 power management certificate as well as the Gold Standard Excellence in human resources certificate, which was awarded to a GCC-based Company for the first time ever.

The company also successfully renewed its Level 1 Gold System Status certificate for bulk in-ship after going thorough an examination by the Australian Government’s Quarantine and Inspection Foundation.

On the occasion, Dr. Al Sharayan, all Board Members and Dr. Jawahery honoured outstanding employees, who demonstrated a great deal of commitment and dedication to work during the year, as well as those who have completed long years of continuous service.
