Foreign Ministry condemns Iranian official's 'irresponsible' statements
The Ministry of the Foreign Affairs has condemned the "irresponsible statements, recently made by the Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran which are regarded as part of the ongoing blatant interference in the domestic affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain."
In a statement issued today, the ministry affirmed that "these statements contradict the principles of the United Nations and all international laws on the need to protect state sovereignty and independence, and reflect the sectarian tendency of the Iranian officials and their meddling in others’ affairs and nonobservance of the principles of international relations."
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately cease such statements and practices, abide by the principles of good neighbourliness and fully respect the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bahrain," the statement said.
The ministry added that "the Islamic Republic of Iran would better take care of its own people and meet their legitimate demands instead of occupying itself with false statements and futile allegations that are good only for the escalation of tensions in the region."
