Two landmark infrastructure projects opened
Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalifa opened today the flyover of the second interchange along the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and the road linking Roundabouts 13-18 in Hamad Town, as well as the Muharraq Ring Road Project.
Costing more than $33 million, the two projects were financed by the Saudi Development Fund, within the Gulf Development Programme.
The minister stressed that the projects will boost the kingdom's road infrastructure and increase its capability to accommodate high traffic movement and cope with the increasing urban and population growth.
Khalaf expressed sincere thanks to the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure, led by the Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, for its support to efforts to strengthen Bahrain's infrastructure, in line with the directives of the leadership.
He also paid tribute to donor countries within the GCC Development Programmes, in general, and Saudi Arabia, in particular, for funding the two vital projects through the Saudi Development Fund.
He stressed that he GCC Development Project embodies unity and complementarity among countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The minister inaugurated the projects in the presence of the Saudi Embassy Charge d' Affaires Riyadh bin Saud Al-Khenini, Saudi Development Fund's Acting Director-General of the Technical Management Hassan bin Mohammed Al-Attas and a number of senior Ministry's officials.
The ceremony was also attended by MPs Mohammed Al-Jowdar, Mohammed Al-Emadi and Jameela Al-Sammak, as well as the chairmen and members of the Muharraq and Northerthen municipal councils.
Members of the delegation of the Saudi Development Fund congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain on the inauguration of the two projects, opened during the country's celebrations of the glorious National Day and the Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Accession to the Throne.
They congratulated the Government of Bahrain, represented by the Court of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, for its constant follow-up and keenness to remove all obstacles facing the projects.
