Parking issues at market lead to chaos, arguments
Illegal parking on roads and pavements at the central market sparked a row between the traffic police and the public on Friday.
The central market was crowded with people who came to make weekend purchases and others who came to celebrate New Year.
Traffic police personnel were seen busy fining violating drivers, many of whom were seen pleading and arguing with policemen.
“This is a usual affair. There is ample parking facility in the clock tower compound and also around the market, except some spaces reserved to load and unload goods. But still people want to park right at the doorstep,” said Chairman, Manama General Secretariat, Mohammed Al Khoazaee.
“We have submitted a proposal for more and effective parking facility. We are yet to get any green signal from the authorities,” Khozaee added.
