Six rioters get five years behind bars
The High Criminal Court sentenced six defendants to five years each behind bars for burning tyres. The accused, aged between 19 and 36, reportedly attacked police patrols in Daih on January 27 last year with other unknown men.
They initially set tyres ablaze to lure police officers. And when they arrived, the suspects hurled Molotov cocktails at them, according to court files. The defendants have been arrested after detectives found their links to the incident.
The first defendant was reportedly arrested on a farm in Karbabad, though he tried to evade arrest.
The defendants have been convicted of arson, putting lives in danger, participating in an illegal gathering, possessing firebombs and attacking police officers.
