Man in the dock for using fake ID

A Bahraini man, who forged an ID card and added a renowned local surname to his full name, is facing a one-year jail sentence.

The defendant was arrested in Kuwait after he aroused the suspicions of police officers, court files indicated.

The officers found that the defendant’s appearance did not a match with the ‘surname’ written on the card. Thus he was taken to a police station, and contacts were made with Bahrain to ascertain the validity of the ID.

The Bahraini police confirmed that his ID was fake, as he wasn’t a member in the family. Then the defendant was extradited to Bahrain and put on trial.

Detectives found later that the defendant had rigged the card with the help of a Nepalese man, who allegedly used a scanner. The latter also was handed down one year in prison. He will be deported from Bahrain once he completes his jail term.
