Tow truck driver in theft case

A tow truck driver serving in the General Traffic Directorate has been charged with stealing seized vehicles, according to court files.

The defendant was caught after a Bahraini man saw his motorbike that was earlier seized by the police due to overspeeding. He lodged a complaint to the General Traffic Directorate and an audit was carried out, in which five other vehicles were also found disappeared.

The defendant was responsible for towing the seized vehicles to an area near Alba Company. Detectives found that he had stolen some vehicles before selling them to scrapyards.

A scrapyard owner also confirmed that the defendant had sold vehicles to him and he didn’t submit any valid papers to prove his ownership.

During interrogation, the defendant denied any wrongdoing, stating that his boss had told him to leave the cars outside the area assigned to accommodate them and their owners would come and take them. The defendant has been charged with robbery. The High Criminal Court released him on bail yesterday.
