Dilmun civilisation under spotlight

Al-Jazeera Cultural Centre hosted on Thursday a workshop on Dilmun Civilisation, conducted by Bahraini archaeologist Abdul Aziz al-Suwailah, in the presence of a number of Muharraq key personalities, businessmen, the centre’s board members and affiliates.

Board of Directors Chairman of the Al-Jazeera Cultural Centre Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Jazzaf expressed pride in the centre’s hosting of a workshop on the history of Bahrain.

The workshop aimed to recall the leading role played by Dilmun civilization in human history, and bring to light Bahrain’s rich history as the best means to preserve Bahrain’s cultural identity and foster the values of belonging to the nation and citizenship among citizens across the nation.

The lecturer said researchers agree that people of Dilmun used to have the basic requirements for existence, such as strategic location, religion, culture, trade and agriculture, which, he said, had enabled them to interact with the civilisations of the time.
