Man in dock for robbery

A 35-year-old African man has stolen BD20,000 from a Pakistani man’s car, court documents revealed. The Pakistani man was said to have been heading to a local bank to deposit the amount as he was completing the necessary steps to launch a joint establishment with a Bahraini man.

He had stopped his car near a cold store to buy a bottle of water. “It took me only one minute to go and buy the water bottle. When I returned, I didn’t find the money,” he told prosecutors. “ My passport as well as my brother’s passport were stolen.”

The African man was caught with the help of the video footages from the security cameras installed in the area. He was seen alighting from a car and then he stole a folder that was inside the Pakistani man’s vehicle.

The accused is standing trial before the High Criminal Court, which yesterday ordered for his detention to be renewed for 15 days.
