Drug import: Remand given
The Public Prosecution has ordered for the remand of a Bangladeshi man accused in connection with importing drugs with intention of peddling and consuming.
The defendant was nabbed after drugs were unearthed from auto spare parts that were sent to Bahrain through airmail.
The parts were sent from Bangladesh, and the customs officers found 500 illicit narcotic pills were hidden inside.
The defendant’s address was indicated in the mail. So he was summoned up to receive the parcel. Later, he was arrested as he admitted that the mail was sent to him. He also confessed to importing the drugs for personal use as well as to sell them.
