16-yr-old fined for attacking friend
The Criminal Court fined a teenager BD100 for injuring his schoolmate.
The 16-year-old defendant allegedly assaulted the victim with a plank, causing head injuries.
The accused told prosecutors the attack was in retaliation to the insults hurled at him by the victim.
“I was playing with my friends and holding a plank when he (the victim) came to me and started swearing at me,” the boy said.
“I complained to his uncle, but he continued to insult me. I wanted to strike him with plank on his back but it hit his head accidentally,” he added.
The 16-year-old expressed regrets over the attack, pledging not to repeat such incidents.
