Supreme Judiciary, Bahrain University sign MoU
The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Bahrain (UoB), intended to boost cooperation and mutual exchange of expertise and advice.
The Council signed the MoU with the University as part of implementation of the Supreme Judiciary Authority (SJA)'s strategic plan aimed to boost institutional partnerships through the signing of memoranda of understanding.
As per the Future Judges Training Strategy, the Council seeks to ensure outstanding efficient judicial staff, consolidate the foundations of independence and administer justice.
The University provided two workshops last week at the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies.
A workshop themed "Freedom of Opinion for Judges" was presented by UoB's associate professor of general law, Dr. Saqer Eid. He outlined the significance of freedom of opinion in the Bahraini Constitution, forms of freedom of opinion, and restrictions to judges' freedom of opinion – its nature and types.
The Future Judges Project aims to attract outstanding alumni to assume judicial positions according to transparent, objective standards and to become highly proficient magistrates.
