Monthly weather summary –December 2015

The Meteorological Directorate, Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication had reported in their monthly weather summary. That December 2015 was almost similar to average in temperatures, below average in relative humidity, wind speed and above average in precipitation. 
The mean temperature of the month was 19.3 C. This is 0.1 C above the long-term normal for December. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 21.7 C. 

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 17.0 C. The lowest temperature recorded was 12.0 C set on the 8th December at Bahrain International Airport. But it was 10.8 C in King Fahad Causeway. 

The mean relative humidity for December was 70%. The mean maximum relative humidity for the month was 82% and the mean minimum relative humidity for December was 56%. 

Bahrain International Airport recorded a total rainfall of 22.2 mm fell over 6 days in December. Trace amount were recorded on the 15th, 20th and 23rd December. This total was twice December precipitation average. The highest record for precipitation in December was 119.6 mm which occurred in December 2006. 

The total precipitation for December in King Fahad Causeway was 17.4 mm, in Sitra island was 22.4 mm and in Durrat Al Bahrain was 47.4 mm. 

On the 25th December, a cold trough extended to the eastern side of the red sea and moved toward the Arabian Gulf accumulating the highest day with rainfall of 15.0 mm and reduced the visibility to 1200 meters at Bahrain International Airport.

Westerly to Northwesterly winds accounted 68% of the observation with gusts reached 37 knots on the 7th December at Bahrain International Airport. 

Haze was reported on the 4th and 13th December. Visibility dropped to 2000 meters at Bahrain International Airport.
