High 5 for team Bahrain
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Athletics Association congratulated the leadership following the winning of five medals (three gold, one silver, one bronze) by the Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa (KHK MMA) amateur team, yesterday on the concluding day of the Indian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Open Championship hosted by Mumbai and organised by the All India MMA Association (AIMMAA) under the supervision of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) as part of the Body Power Expo India 2016 event.
The team led by team manager Redha Monfaradi and Russian coach Eldar Eldarov and coach Rinat Ahmed dominated the 57kg category with Bahrain taking all three places with Hussain Ayyad taking gold, Fahad Abdulrazaq silver and Hassan Ayyad the bronze. Hussain Ayyad defeated Fahad Abdulrazaq in the All-Bahraini final and Hassan Ayyad beat Indian fighter Vezaa Anand on points after three rounds in his first international participation for the bronze medal to help secure all three podium places for Bahrain.
Abdullah Seena secured gold in the 61kg category after defeating Indian fighter Tumbafn Oscar in the final following a points decision after earlier knocking out compatriots Shashi Kumar and Moussa Altaf.
Bahrain’s third gold medal was claimed by Ali Ebrahimi in the 77kg category against Umesh Aedkar after a points decision after earlier winning against Rohan Sunil.
Bahrain’s other two participants were Isa Al Ameeri in the 70kg category and Mohammed Al Mullah in the 77kg category.
