Welcome to TEDxSakhir

TEDxSakhir, an independently organized TED event, will be held on January 16 at the Bahrain International Circuit under the theme: Driving Destiny.

TEDxSakhir was put together with the aim of developing a TED-like culture in Bahrain and establishing an outlet for storytellers and visionaries to share their thoughts. Organisers are expecting up to 100 people including VIPs to attend this international event. The theme, Driving Destiny, gives TEDxSakhir’s speakers the opportunity to share their ideas on how the environment today will shape tomorrow within the Arabian Gulf. Various topics include; innovation, sustainability, and community.

The event is being organised by a group of local volunteers who believe in the true value of TED events and is sponsored by Citi Bahrain.

Usman Ahmed, Citi Bahrain’s Chief Executive Officer said: “Citi Bahrain is keen to support this international event in the Kingdom that will facilitate an exchange of ideas for the benefit of our youth. TED events are popular across the globe and are viewed as a reputable platform for speakers from diverse backgrounds that we may not encounter in our daily lives”. TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences run by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan “Ideas Worth Spreading”. TED was founded in 1984 as a one-off event.
