SCIA calls for stability, bashes foreign interference

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) has affirmed that terrorism is among the major threats to the security and stability of countries and societies, urging concerted efforts to combat extremist and terrorist ideologies to safeguard society and maintain its peace.

This came as the SCIA held yesterday its regular meeting, under the chairmanship of its president Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, and in the presence of its Deputy President Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

The panel commended the efforts exerted by the security authorities in the Kingdom to track down terror cells and spare the country and the citizens the evils of their criminal plots, condemning the attempts of foreign parties to spread anarchy and destruction through supporting and training such cells.

The SCIA called for non-interference in the domestic affairs of countries, and for respecting the Judiciary, being the guarantor of society.

The panel stressed the need for commitment to Islamic values and good neighbourly norms.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs also condemned the heinous attacks on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and Consulate in Mashhad, describing them as illegal as alien to Islamic principles.

In a related context, the council welcomed the establishment of the Islamic Military Alliance to Combat Terrorism, describing it as a historic move that is required for Muslim countries to fight terrorism and extremism. It called on Islamic countries to participate effectively in the alliance to eliminate terrorism and rid the world of its evils, as well as restore fraternity among Muslims.

The panel then discussed other issues on its agenda.
