Two accused of debauchery acquitted

Two Bangladeshi men, accused of encouraging 10 Thai women to engage in debauchery, have been acquitted on appeal.

The defendants were earlier handed down three years in prison each, but the High Criminal Appeals Court found there was no evidence to hold them guilty.

The 10 women were also tried in this case, and their appeals resulted in having their jail terms reduced from three years to six months each.

The 10 women were serving as masseuses in a local massage centre and were arrested for offering sex with the customers.

The Bangladeshi men’s role was allegedly to bring customers to the centre. But, the High Criminal Appeals Court has dropped the charges against the duo, stating that there was no proof against them.

The court has also indicated that they were arrested away from the crime scene. The convicted masseuses will also spend extra 10 days in jail for illegally staying in Bahrain. They will be deported after the completion of their jail terms.
