BBBF introduced to BIAS 2016

Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) Chairman, Khalid Al Zayani welcomed Jayne Thomson, Protocol and Delegations Manager of Farnborough International, the keynote speaker to the BBBF’s networking function held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Centre.

About 100 members and their guests were introduced to “the making of a must attend event in the global aerospace calendar”.  Taking place from January on 21-23, the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) is organised by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Royal Bahraini Air Force and Farnborough International.

Thomson outlined the history that led to the establishment of the first BIAS in 2010. She described the growing successes of each consecutive event, now in its fourth edition.

Tens of thousands of trade and public visitors are projected to visit the show this year. This year’s show will see its strongest international presence to date, reflecting the event’s growing standing in the global aviation event calendar.

She highlighted a number of adjacent events taking place before and during the airshow, beginning with the Manama Air Power Symposium (MAPS) on  January 20.  ‘Air Transport in the 21st Century’ Conference takes place on the second day of the show, followed by IATA’s safety programme seminar on the third day. On the last two days, there is a Hosted Buyer Programme that enables suppliers to connect with several international companies.
