One more arrested in Sakhir murder case

One more suspect accused of killing a Bahraini man and burying his body in Sakhir camping area was arrested yesterday, security authorities announced. The main suspect was nabbed on

Thursday.

Interior Ministry’s Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science General Director Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Sinan confirmed that “investigations led to the identification and arrest of another suspect in the murder case that occurred in the camping area in the south side of Jabal Al Dukhan, Sakhir.”

Regarding the previous arrest, Al Sinan said in a statement, “The first suspect confessed that he murdered the victim, adding that the Public Prosecution was notified and the legal proceedings were finalised.”

The Brigadier explained that the first suspect was arrested after a search was launched to locate the victim, who was reported missing on January 11 and was found buried in Sakhir.

Sources confirmed that the deceased was identified as Ali Al Mutlaq, 33, and was buried in Muharraq Cemetery yesterday.

The man’s body was found buried at a camp in Sakhir with a gunshot wound on the head. The discovery came after pleas were posted online by the victim’s family to find him.

“Apparently, the deceased had a disagreement with the killer and his son over financial matters. They lured the victim to the camping area, where he was shot on the head and then buried. The killers then drove the victim’s car and parked it at the parking lot of Oasis Mall in Riffa, where it was detected by the authorities who picked the main evidences that led to the killers from there,” sources informed.

They added that “tracing the victim’s recent phone calls also played a major role in solving the case,” adding that “the amount that both the killer and the victim had a disagreement on was BD5600.”

Several posts were intensively circulated on local social media networks, claiming that “the killer was confirmed to be a Bahraini and worked with the victim at Bahrain Defence Force.”

The circulated post had a picture of a man in his late fifties who was alleged to be the killer. However, this could not be confirmed with the concerned authorities.
