Indian Film actor gets Bahrain award

Famous Indian film actor and social worker Suresh Gopi will receive the  Mannam Award for 2015 instituted by Kerala Social and Cultural Association (KSCA-NSS), the executive committee members announced at a Press conference yesterday.

The committee decided to honour Indian business magnate  Dr B Ravi Pillai with business icon special award for  2015. The award will be distributed during Mannam Jayanthi celebration on February 5th at the Indian School auditorium. KSCA President Sunil S Pillai, General Secretary Praveen Nair, award committee convener Prasada Chandran attended the press conference. 

Mannathu Padmanabhan (January 2, 1878 - February 25, 1970) was a social reformer and a freedom fighter from the State of Kerala, India. He is recognised as the founder of the Nair Service Society, which claims to represent the Nair community that constitutes almost 14.5% of the population of the state. Padmanabhan is considered as a visionary reformer who organised the Nair community under the NSS.

Suresh Gopinathan, commonly known as Suresh Gopi,  has starred in more than 200 Malayalam films. The role of Kannan Perumalayan in Kaliyattam (1997) won him the National Film Award for Best Actor. In 2012, he became the host of the Asianet game show Ningalkkum Aakaam Kodeeshwaran.

B. Ravi Pillai is an Indian entrepreneur and the head of RP Group of companies. A recipient of the 2008 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, Pillai was honored again by the Government of India, in 2010, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
